Ophthalmic Surgery Center

Update 5/14/2020:

Dear, Patient –Infection control has always been a top priority for the Surgical Center of Greater Annapolis, Inc. We follow infection control recommendations made by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Maryland Department of Health (MDH)

Prior to your arrival to the center:

If you have a fever/have had a fever within the last 14-21 days, have shortness of breath or a cough, have flu-like symptoms such as gastrointestinal upset, headache or fatigue, have recently experienced loss of taste or smell, are in contact with any confirmed COVID-19 positive patients, or have traveled to any regions affected by COVID-19 in the last 14 days please reschedule your appointment by phone

In addition to our regular strict infection control protocols we have implemented the following:

Staff and patient screening protocols and taking of temperature upon arrival

  • Proper updated air filtration protocols in the Operating room

  • Ongoing decontamination between patients

  • Social distancing measures and protocols / limiting number of people in the office

  • Additional PPE

  • No magazines or children’s toys as these are difficult to clean/disinfect

We kindly ask that you follow our new protocols listed below:

You will be called 2-5 business days prior to your surgery by a nurse to ask some screening questions during your preoperative phone call. Please come to your appointment wearing a mask, if you do not have one, a mask will be provided for you at a $10 charge due to the significant increased costs associated with PPE.

When you are called 2-5 business days prior to your surgery you will be given an arrival time, please do not come any earlier. If you are new to our surgical center please arrive with all registration forms filled out (forms can be found at www.scga.us), your insurance card, photo id, payment card, & eye drops (if indicated)

Except for the parents of children, please have your driver wait in the car. Please leave siblings at home with childcare.

When you arrive at our center, the door will be locked.  Please knock or call 410-757-5019 to have someone let you in.  You will only be granted access if you are wearing a mask, again one can be provided to you at a $10 charge.  When you come inside please use the hand sanitizer located at the front desk prior to filling out the patient screening form, surgical consent, and all other surgical center paperwork. If possible, please leave your belongings in your car.

These guidelines are subject to change as new information is provided by the CDC and MDH, so please check in with the surgical center for updates. Thank you for your understanding and trust in our center.
